كانبرا : أظهرت دراسة جديدة أن العسل يملك خصائص يستطيع من خلالها مقاومة الجراثيم، كما أظهر فعالية ضد البكتيريا المقاومة للمضادات الحيوية، والتي طورت أجهزتها المناعية لمقاومة المضادات، مما جعل مقاومتها بالأدوية العادية أمراً صعباً.

وأشارت الدراسة التي أجرتها جامعة سيدني الاسترالية، أن العسل يمكن أن يحل محل الكثير من المضادات الحيوية المستخدمة في معالجة الجروح كالمراهم والكريمات المختلفة، كما إن استخدام العسل كوسيلة مساعدة للعلاج يعمل سيزيد من عمر المضادات الحيوية.

ويعتبر العسل من أكثر المواد تعقيداً في تركيبته، إذ يحتوي على ما يقارب الـ 800 مركب، وهذا التعقيد يجعل من الصعب على العلماء أن يدركوا تماماً الآلية التي يقوم من خلالها بمقاومة البكتيريا وقتلها.
